This more precise targeting is based on where a user is located and connected at a specific point in time, regardless of device.

“We’re expecting to see double-digit growth in Internet ad spending over the next several years in Chile so it’s imperative that companies are using the right technology tools to reach consumers and stretch their marketing dollars to their full potential,” said Jorgelina Striedinger, Latin America business development director for Digital Element. “We also anticipate an explosion in mobile marketing as the number of smartphone users continues to grow significantly. Coppel Deploys Digital Element’s Geolocation Technology to Better Serve Online Shoppers in Mexico

Department Store Chain Looks to Enhance Customer Service and Achieve Faster Deliveries

ATLANTA – March 8, 2016 – With the number of online retail sales in Mexico projected to significantly increase in the coming years, Coppel S.A. de C.V., a large Mexican retail chain with thousands of stores throughout the country, has selected Digital Element, the leading provider of IP Intelligence and geolocation solutions, to provide IP geolocation technology to support its newest e-commerce project.

Coppel currently offers a wide variety of products including electrical equipment, electronics, furniture, and apparel. The chain, that currently operates 1,280 stores in Mexico, Brasil and Argentina, is undertaking a new e-commerce project to bring better service and ease of purchase to those customers shopping online. With distribution points in the double digits throughout the country, it is important for Coppel to be able to show customers products that are both relevant to their regions and available for delivery.

There are currently 14.3 million digital buyers in Mexico (12 percent of the population) with the number of buyers projected to increase substantially to 23.6 million by 2019 and account for $13.3 billion in sales.

By incorporating Digital Element’s NetAcuity Edge™, a global hyperlocal IP geolocation solution, Coppel will be able to serve its customers relevant content based on the their geographic locations. According to Alan Sobrino, e-commerce merchandising manager at Coppel SA de CV, the addition of more accurate and reliable geo-data coverage for Mexico is expected to decrease distributions costs and increase customer satisfaction for the company.

“When the data is fully integrated into our e-commerce systems, users’ cities will be identified automatically so that Coppel can better respond to the customers’ local demands,” said Sobrino. “This will allow us to achieve faster delivery by serving an online catalog that represents products that are currently in-stock locally, provide the best shipping costs possible, and give the customer a very positive web experience. Digital Element was the only company to be able to provide this type of data granularity in Mexico, according to our findings.”
Coppel enlisted the assistance of a third-party IT consulting firm to verify the data. Tests were conducted using data from the company’s log and e-commerce systems. The results accurately matched all cities to distribution systems, ensuring that the logic was in line with the company’s e-commerce goals.

“Mexico definitely represents an emerging digital retail market,” said Jorgelina Striedinger, Latin America business development director for Digital Element. “The market will only continue to grow as mobile device ownership increases and more consumers grow comfortable with making purchases online. Forward-thinking companies such as Coppel are preparing for this now with technologies that impact their online and mobile initiatives on a number of fronts.”

Coppel has also integrated GeoMprint, Digital Element’s new reverse geocoding solution targeted at mobile device traffic, which will allow the retailer to better serve mobile users in real time.

Coppel joins Digital Element’s other high-profile customers in Mexico, among them, BBVA and Televisa.

Globo Uses Digital Element’s Mobile-Centric IP Data to Localize Video Content across Brazil

Latin American Media Giant Leverages NetAcuity Pulse for a More Comprehensive Digital Right Management Solution

ATLANTA – December 10, 2015 – Digital Element, the leading provider of IP geolocation solutions, today announced that Globo, one of the largest media companies in the world, has selected its technology to help provide localized video content and protect copyrights throughout Brazil.

Managing and protecting video content while delivering an exceptional consumer viewing experience creates ongoing challenges for media and entertainment companies around the world. Globo needed the ability to localize video content at a very granular level to serve one of its newest video products Globo Play, so it decided to utilize Digital Element’s NetAcuity Pulse™, the industry’s first mobile-centric IP targeting solution. Globo Play is a digital video platform that allows viewers to easily access programming―journalism, sports and entertainment―on computers, smartphones and tablets.

“Consumers expect content that is relevant locally, and content producers expect their rights to be protected,” said Igor Macaubas, globo.com’s OVP product manager. “As a company, we can’t accomplish either unless we have extremely accurate geolocation data. The combination of Digital Element’s data granularity and reliability with its customer support allows Globo to segment its video content across Brazil with confidence.”

Pulse expands the coverage reach of the global postcode-level targeting offered through NetAcuity EdgeTM by leveraging new insights derived from Wi-Fi connected mobile traffic and infrastructure. This more precise targeting is based on where a user is located and connected at a specific point in time, regardless of device. Information can include whether the user is in fact coming through a Wi-Fi connection point, the user’s point-in-time geographic location, and whether someone is on a home or a business hotspot (which may call for traffic to be handled differently).

During the evaluation process, globo.com extracted a database with 13 million IP addresses from its video access log and found some big discrepancies in reports from other providers. According to Macaubas, there were solutions that could not even return geolocation data for 2 million IP addresses. NetAcuity Pulse not only returned geolocation data for all the IP addresses, but was also the most accurate of the solutions that were evaluated.

“globo.com conducted a very extensive evaluation of all data, comparing a number of different sources, and found NetAcuity Pulse to be the most accurate at the city level in all of Brazil,” said Jorgelina Striedinger, Latin America business development director for Digital Element. “Globo is definitely implementing the most effective digital rights management tool in the market to ensure its delivering the best video products to its viewers while adhering to its partners’ distribution agreements.”

Globo joins Digital Element’s other high-profile Latin American customers, among them Televisa, Muchoviaje, Despegar.com, Sony Music, CNN, Microsoft, Omniture and DoubleClick.

mbr targeting Drives Precise Regional Marketing with Digital Element’s IP Geolocation Technology

Industry-leading IP geolocation technology chosen to enable highly efficient geographically targeted advertising campaigns

London, UK – 28 September 2015 – Digital Element, the leading provider of IP geolocation solutions, today announced that mbr targeting, a demand-side online advertising technology provider within Ströer Digital Group, is deploying its NetAcuity Edge™ IP geolocation technology to enable more granular targeting across regional advertising.

As a Demand Side Platform (DSP), mbr targeting uses IP geolocation technology to add location as an advertising targeting criterion. The accuracy of the location data available is vital to ensuring effective geotargeting and reducing wasted impressions, while improving ROI.

In the automotive industry, for example, the company works with a nationwide network of car retailers offering central advertising packages that authorised dealers can opt into, specifying the number of impressions to be delivered within their precise geographic region. These booked impressions are then delivered using location data from the highly accurate geolocation solution, NetAcuity Edge.

Digital Element’s technology was selected following a rigorous testing process, in which IP address data was compared with known locations, to benchmark the accuracy of the various geotargeting solutions on the market. mbr targeting found data provided by other IP geolocation vendors was not as accurate as that provided by Digital Element’s solution.

“We are committed to geotargeted advertising and Digital Element’s technology enables us to transfer business models that have proven very successful in the analogue advertising business to the digital world,” explained Christoph Tavan, CTO mbr targeting. “While benchmarking the available solutions, we discovered that Digital Element’s technology allowed us to accurately target almost 50% more IP addresses than the next-best option in the market. Digital Element is able to locate the same number of users with almost four times better precision than any other technology provider we tested.”

Founded in 1999, Digital Element is the industry pioneer of IP geolocation technology, and its NetAcuity Edge™ technology has revolutionised the IP geolocation space. By combining IP routing infrastructure analysis with anonymous location insight gleaned from a network of global commercial partners, NetAcuity Edge™ enables numerous applications ranging from highly accurate targeting to complying with geographic rights – all while maintaining user anonymity and meeting the highest standards of end-user privacy.

“We’re delighted that mbr targeting has recognised the superiority of Digital Element’s data, and that we have been chosen to enable accurate and granular geotargeted advertising,” commented Kate Owen, Vice President, Northern Europe, Digital Element. “The deployment of our NetAcuity Edge™ IP geolocation technology will allow the company to employ far more accurate geotargeting than previously and deliver hyperlocal advertising that is more contextually relevant and meaningful, with reach that makes business sense.”

mbr targeting joins Digital Element’s other high-profile advertising and data platform clients including Microsoft, AdBlueDigital, MediaMath, The ADEX, Crimtan, Weborama, Vibrant Media, Webtrekk, Admedo, Mashero, Collective, Flashtalking, Infectious Media, AOL’s ADTECH and Yahoo’s BlueLithium.

Digital Element Launches New Reverse Geocoding Solution with Introduction of GeoMprint

GeoMprint

Geolocation Leader Converts GPS-Obtained Latitude/Longitude Coordinates from Mobile Devices to Useful, Relevant Information for Marketers

ATLANTA – August 18, 2015 – In order to get the most out of geotargeted campaigns, marketers need relevant, real-time location-based data to help create a smoother customer journey. With that in mind, Digital Element has introduced GeoMprint, a new reverse geocoding solution targeted at mobile device traffic.

Offered as a web service, GeoMprint takes GPS-obtained latitude/longitude coordinates and converts that data into more useful geographic information such as ZIP/postcodes, cities, regions, etc. for businesses. This allows mobile users to automatically receive more localized content, messages, advertising and promotions. Unlike other solutions, GeoMprint does not involve any contingencies that require a map to be used in tandem with the geolocation data output. GeoMprint also does not restrict the number of queries.

“The profusion of mobile devices continues to allow us to creatively engage with consumers in unique ways,” said Rob Friedman, executive vice president, Digital Element. “Users accessing mobile websites are more likely seeking information or wanting to take action immediately, so companies are constantly challenged to create a more relevant, point-in-time experience. On their own, GPS coordinates mean little to companies, but the wealth of geolocation information that can be gleaned from that data is very beneficial for marketing and other business purposes.”

Without reverse geocoding, when mobile users opt in to location-based services (in app) or share their locations (mobile web), the latitude/longitude coordinates are the only pieces of information returned which essentially amount to numbers and decimals. With GeoMprint, those coordinates are automatically converted into more expanded, understandable, and useful geolocation data that can be applied to targeted advertising, content localization, geographic rights management, fraud prevention, and more.

“Digital Element developed GeoMprint with today’s businesses in mind and is leveraging its more than 15 years of leadership in the geolocation space to bring to market yet another cost-effective, accurate and reliable solution that addresses evolving needs in the mobile space,” said Friedman. “We listened to clients who were asking for consistency in geographic responses when targeting users across devices. Combining our new GeoMprint offering with our flagship NetAcuity solutions lets us deliver multi-pronged location strategies that enable brands to reach more connected consumers in relevant ways.”
